July 1, 2005 Marks Dramatic Change in BexarMet's Billing Cycle Procedures
|
As of July 1, 2005, BexarMet's billing cycle has been re-vamped with some features that benefit customers and the District.
Notable Changes:
No rate increase!!!
For the first time in years, BexarMet water rates do not increase!
- No more collections! BexarMet will no longer make contact at a customer's residence or collect payments for past due water bills. The $15 collector fee will no longer be charged.
- No more Shut Off Fees! BexarMet will charge a $25 Turn-On Fee if water has been turned off for non-payment. The $20 Turn-Off Fee will no longer be charged.
- Bills are now past due 16 days after mailing instead of 15 days after mailing.
- Customers receive 4 reminders about past due bills instead of 3: Under the new procedures, a reminder is mailed 21 days after the bill is mailed, at 31 days when the next month's bill is mailed, at 47 days when an automated phone call reminder is sent to the customer's home, and 72 hours prior to water service shut off, a warning tag is placed on the customer's door.
- A customer has an additional 14 days to pay their past due bill before their water meter is locked or removed for non-payment.
A flyer on the new billing cycle changes and no rate increase was mailed to all customers in their June 2005 water bills.
