BexarMet Board of Directors Approves Balanced Budget for 2006-07

BexarMet Water Rates Remain Steady for Second Straight Year!

For the second straight year, BexarMet customers will enjoy unchanged water rates, thanks to the latest budget approved by the BexarMet Board of Directors at their monthly meeting on May 2, 2006.  The balanced budget contains $57 million operating and $30 million capital improvements components.  Budgetary information for the coming year is available by clicking on the link below.

Other highlights from last night's board meeting include approval of a new $1,000 Water Supply Development Fee that will be assessed for each home platted in new developments within BexarMet service areas.  This fee will help BexarMet pay for estimated costs of $1,747 per new home for developing new water supplies over the next 10 years.  Michael Albach, Director for Water Resources and Strategic Planning at BexarMet, told the Board that developing new sources of water over the next 10 years will cost the utility approximately $116 million.  Approximately $59 million of this total cost will be needed to replace supplies of water that will be reduced by Edwards Aquifer Authority regulations by 2015, and the rest will be needed to provide water to new customers.
