Switch and Save Toilet Programs
- Toilets can account for almost 30 percent of all indoor water use, more than any other fixture or appliance.
- Replacing older, larger-use toilets (3.5-7 gallons per flush) with newer models (1.6 gallons per flush or less) can result in significant savings.
- Check periodically to make sure the flush and fill components in the tank are working properly.
- Rebate and free toilet program currently available for residential accounts only.
- Only homes constructed prior to 1992 are eligible for toilet rebates or free toilets.
BEXARMET SWITCH AND SAVE TOILET REBATE PROGRAM
If you have purchased a water-efficient toilet within the past year to replace an old, pre-1992 toilet, you may be eligible for a $75 rebate on the water bill per toilet (up to 2 toilets). BEXARMET SWITCH AND SAVE FREE TOILET PROGRAM
As of 9-9-09, there is currently a waiting list and no further free toilet applications are being distributed. If you have submitted an application and would like to know the status, please call (210) 922-1221.
Free toilets are white Caroma model 270 (handicapped) and 305 (regular) dual flush models and come with a wax ring and attachment bolts: regular toilets are round front and the handicapped toilets are elongated and taller than regular toilets.
