Water Efficiency

Quick Facts

  • Water is a limited resource – South Texas is a semi-arid region and our scarce water resources will become even more valuable as our area population continues to grow.
  • Capturing, treating and delivering water is costly. Water comes from underground wells and surface water sources and is then treated/purified before it reaches you – and the journey to your tap is expensive. Efficient water consumption ultimately results in lower water bills for the consumer.
  • Save for future generations. It has been projected by 2035, Texas will only have 85% of the water required to meet the needs of our population. Conservation of our water today means adequate resources for tomorrow.
  • Protecting the environment. Making more efficient use of our water will help preserve the natural beauty of South Texas and will also ensure that our aquifers and surface water sources remain at healthy levels for years to come.
